11th August 2006

This post is for yesterday; haven't been posting a bit. haha i'm just lazy =D. anyway, I had NO DMP yesterday in the mornin. So yeah, I woke up late, slacked around at home (YAY!), before changing and going to school for the dian nao you xi thing. I could skip DMP because of this! haiz, but i still remain neutral, because the DMP was quite interesting (econs), and I wanted to go!

Today, we had to go to SAJC for the 1st run-through, and we were damn confused because someone told us that we did not need to bring our instruments. Then our teacher called and asked, "Have you brought your instruments?" I told her no need to, and either way no one else brought their instruments. Then she was like, wtfomgknnbccb (jk), " You were supposed to bring your instruments, check the instructions!!!" Champion. We all didn't bring anything. except our bass guitarist who brought his amp (quite pointless??).

So, we still had to go there, without our instruments. Luckily, this was just the 1st run-through. So yeah, we went there, and had to tell the teachers we would go last because our 2 vocalists weren't here yet too, besides not bringing our instruments. To add to that, 4 people from our group didn't bring their photocopied ICs. I'll cry after finishing the rest. Then, the lyrics sheet that J. Lim gave to the teacher was screwed up, she did not know what to type on the ppt, to show our lyrics on a screen. So, J. Lim had to indicate where the chorus and verses were, etc.

When he finished, he went up to the teacher, and KNOCKED ON THE CHAIR! Then the teacher was like (translated from chinese), " Excuse me, we are teachers too you know, don't knock on the chair like that." Omg...J. Lim turned around and was like, wtfomgknnbccb, screwed! Lucky they didn't care much after that. Soon after that, we finally went on the stage to do a sound test, and decide the position of the vocalists and the instruments. We tested with one amp, one borrowed bass guitar, 2 vocalists, and J. Lim improvising on the piano. Sounded uber dry, but yeah still okay! However, the vocalists, as usual, were stoning and singing too much like choir boys, and it sounded "anachronistic". Yikes, so the teacher told them, "You got to have more life in you!" Haha, I went on to pinch Gaby's cheeks to being some life into him. So yeah, this will probably be our biggest letdown, if they sing like GUAI kids instead of the pai kia they're supposed to be.

After that, we went on photo taking journey round the school. So yeah, take photos here and there. On the way back, we saw a basket of tennisballs. No one was around, and J. Lim's soccer instincts got the better of him, so as we passed by, a hand reached into the basket and grabbed a ball. But he was caught. HAHA! nice try, J. Lim. So we finally went back, again, and the teacher then told us to write an intro about our song. So we thought a while, and after brainstorming, we finally came up with this: Dian Nao You Xi is a song composed 100% in higher chinese class, in 10 minutes. It is a song about..... So we handed up, and the teacher was like, wtfomgknnbccb (jking again), I can't put this into the ppt to show others! yay, so she told us that she would help us write instead =D.

After that, the teacher called everyone onto the stage to sing the finale song, some oldie cheena thing that I haven't even heard of or practice at all. Likewise for the rest of the people (most of them), so as the music was being played, most of us were stoning/trying to sing, and yah, it was a bit retarded. Then the teacher, to rub salt into the already opened wound, was like (translated from Chinese), " Raffles Institution, you all haven't learn your piece! Make sure you learn it before the next practice okay...?" What a nice way to put it...

So finally, after that screwed up session, we were free! Rushed to Buona Vista MRT straight after that, to meet up with my friends for dinner. I thought I was late, but later on when I called them as I was on the way, N. Yun, " We are still waiting for Charles, still at Bishan." Once again, I was like, wtfomgknnbccb (jking yet again), but I told him to CAB HERE NOW or else we'd all be late, because we haven't eaten dinner, and it was like 6.15pm, and the concert started at 7pm. So, finally, they came! And we could finally move out! So we crossed the overhead bridge (which they came from ;P), to the bus stop to take 95. The bus came, and we got on.

According to my friend that worked in NUS (we were going to the NUS cultural centre), he said just take one stop and alight, because the cultural centre was right there. So well, I believed him, and we all song jong, because we were lost and didn't know how to get to NUS. So all of them were like, "Thanks a lot man, your friend has really been a great help..." (to put it in a nice way). We asked the pedestrians around there, but they all did not know too. So, we went back to the bus stop, and waited for the next 95. When it came, I went up to ask the bus driver how to get to NUS, then he told us to hop on board, and my friends were grinning menacingly at me. SRY LA! I also not sure lor...

M. Neo, " Come here boy...I'm gonna...", HAHA, screwed! So finally, we decided to get off the bus inside NUS, which was uberuber humoungously gigantically colossally BIG. Once again, we were lost, but at least we were inside NUS, which still did not help much. So we went to ask the people around, and they instructed us to take Bus 95 AGAIN. Once again, all of my friends were like, "I'm GONNA KILL YOU!" haha, super funny. BTW they were all joking all the while, not that they were really pissed at me.

So we decided not to take the bus a third time, but walked all the way there, so we could also eat dinner when we passed by some food stalls. It was already 7pm, so we had to rush, and we brisked walked aimlessly, until we came to a subway stall. Yay, salvation, we could finally eat dinner. Then the the lady at the stall told us, no more bread, so we had cookies + salad + drink for dinner. Haiz, though it tasted WEIRD, it was still healthy ;D. Once again, we went to ask the people around there, and finally, they gave us some directions. So after grabbing dinner, we walked and ate on the way. We walked, and walked, and walked, and when we were almost there, Leonard exclaimed, "I lost my ticket!" GG, we waited for him, and after waiting for so long that we decided he would not come back, we continued our hike towards the cultural centre.

AH...at last! We saw the big sign, "cultural centre", and many people inside. We weren't late! thank god. We quickly went in to join the rest of the people, and went to meet up with friends etc. right before the concert started. The concert started 10 minutes late, because there were so few people!! And they closed the top floor, so that more people would fill up the first 2 levels. The conert commenced, and D. seet was the concert master for the 1st half. They played stravinksy's Pulcinella, Suite of Orchestra, followed by Tchaikovsky's Variations on a Rococo Theme for Cello and Orchestra. The first song was a bit out of style, found it too classical-like for such a song, but for the 2nd song, the virtuosic solo cellist from SSO was ownage, and his playing style was really funny. He kept strutting his head around like a peacock! Hahaha, the audience was sniggering too.

So finally, it was intermission, we went out to meet our friends, and I gave some flowers to them too (had a total of 13, of which 5 were given). So we talked around, took pics, and we had to go back for the 2nd half. SO FAST!! Didn't have much time to talk at all! Anyway, the first item for the second half was Villa-Lobos' Bachianas Brasilieras No. 1, for cello ensemble. Chang da man led the group, and M. Chua was there too! The song was nice, and they blended in very well, except for certain parts which were quite obviously out of tune. After that was the finale item, Mozart's Symphony No. 41 in C Major, "The Jupiter". They performed that in commeration of the 250th Anniversary of Mozart's Century. It was really zai, a good performance in my opinion, and they had 2 encores, of which N. Yun and M. Neo were complaining because they wanted to go home. And N. Yun was damn pro man, we took the sour skittles packet and poured all the remaining sour powder into his mouth, and he was like, wtfomgknnbccb (or at least trying to say that; he couldn't talk properly). Ownage sourness, but who ask him pour everything into his mouth! Haha, and N. Yun being his usual self told us the girl behind was damn cute... -.-

Yay! So we clapped on and before they left the stage after the 2nd encore, I shouted, "REMUS WHANG!" And it sounded really wrong, for those who did not know who remus was. Ooops xD. After the concert, we could meet up again! yay, so we talked, and gave flowers to the performers (the remaining ones). The stupid door person didn't let us go backstage! Argh, so we had to wait outside for the performers, who came out one by one all over the place. zzz, so troublesome! So yeah, went to say hi to many people, including Tat Wai who was seating behind us! woohoo, didn't know he'd come. And Ctoh was trying to kope my flowers...being himself as usual. --..--. Finally, I gave all my flowers! So we decided to head out for supper after N. Yun pestered us like siao. Took MRT to Raffles Place, then half of us rushed to Lau Pa Sat to eat (the other half were lagging behind so they decided to go home). N. Yun, M. Neo, and I shared 1 bowl of Ice Kacang, and rushed back to the MRT. Haha, we got onto the 3rd last train, woohoo! Just nice =D. So yeah, finally got home before I plonked on my bed and went into a deep sleep. It was fun!
